As part of our ongoing partnership with Dorset Council, Dorset Build was recently commissioned to carry out a bespoke fencing project at an assisted living property in Ferndown. The works followed a small refurbishment for a new tenant with very specific requirements, and our team was able to deliver a solution tailored exactly to those needs.

The brief was to design and install a fencing and gate system that would provide privacy to the property, shielding both the building and its adjacent driveway from public view. Our first step was to remove the original fencing along with an overgrown hedge and decades of heavy ivy growth from the neighbouring boundary. Once cleared and the boundary line re-established, we installed a new fence using traditional post-and-rail construction, finished with featheredge boarding for strength and durability.

We also fabricated and installed two custom gates to connect seamlessly into the new fence line. Built for longevity, these gates feature traditional ironmongery and can be securely locked from the inside to provide both safety and convenience for the residents.

To ensure long-lasting protection against the elements, the entire installation was finished with two coats of high-quality stain applied by spray, extending the life of the timber and keeping the appearance fresh for years to come.

This project was taken on at very short notice, but as a valued and long-standing client, Dorset Council could rely on us to mobilise quickly. The work was completed within a week, delivered to the highest standard, on time and within budget—demonstrating once again Dorset Build’s ability to adapt, respond, and deliver quality craftsmanship with efficiency.
