At Dorset Build & Maintenance, we're passionate about making homes more accessible and life a little easier for our clients. We recently had the privilege of completing a fantastic project: constructing a custom concrete access ramp to ensure a client could safely and comfortably reach their home.

Here's a look at how we brought this project to life:

  1. Laying the Groundwork: We started by meticulously excavating the area, preparing a solid foundation for the new ramp. You can see the initial state and the cleared ground in the photos!

  2. Strength from the Start: To guarantee a durable and robust ramp, we installed a strong sub-base and carefully laid out rebar (reinforcement bars). This crucial step significantly enhances the concrete's strength, ensuring it stands the test of time.

  3. The Concrete Pour: With the foundation set, we poured the concrete, applying a brush finish. This isn't just for aesthetics; the brush finish provides vital enhanced grip, making the ramp safer to use in all weather conditions.

  4. The Finishing Touch: Safety First! After allowing the concrete to cure perfectly for three weeks (patience is key for a strong finish!), we returned to install the custom-made white handrails. These not only look great but, most importantly, provide essential support and stability, enabling our client to access their home with complete confidence.

We're incredibly proud of this project and the positive impact it will have on our client's daily life. It’s a true testament to our commitment to quality craftsmanship and thoughtful solutions.
