Dorset Build were invited to carry out a complete refurbishment of the kitchen at Herrison Hall in Charlton Down. The project included installing a brand-new kitchen complete with commercial-grade appliances, as well as creating a new masonry serving hatch into the adjacent function room.

We began by stripping out the existing fixtures and renewing all plumbing and drainage services to suit the upgraded layout. A new pre-cast concrete lintel was then installed to support the opening for the serving hatch. Once in place, we carefully broke out the masonry wall to form the new hatch, providing direct access for food and drink service.

The new kitchen was fitted with sleek dark grey gloss cabinetry—chosen for its easy-clean surface and modern yet timeless aesthetic. The laminate worktops feature a concrete effect finish, offering both visual appeal and durability, making them ideal for a high-traffic, multi-use community space.

Key features of the install included a large corner pantry unit, a tall double-fronted fridge for food storage, a commercial dishwasher, a steam oven, and a triple sliding glass-fronted bottle chiller positioned opposite the serving hatch—perfect for displaying chilled drinks during events.

To finish, we levelled the floor using a self-levelling compound and installed a new hard-wearing vinyl floor covering, ensuring a clean, durable, and low-maintenance surface for years to come.

This upgrade not only enhanced the functionality of the space but also gave Herrison Hall a refreshed, professional feel—ready to serve the local community in style.
